Obituary

Earl Charles Santy
Earl Charles Santy, a beloved son, brother, uncle, great uncle, Godfather, and friend, passed away on October 20, 2023, at the age of 69.  He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, joy, kindness, and love.
Earl was born on July 6, 1954, to his parents, Earl Charles and Helen Justine Santy, on the South Side of Chicago.  He was the cherished oldest son of the Santy Family and a doting elder brother to his three siblings, Helen,(Candy), Sophia Rose, and James.  He attended Sacred Heart Croatian Catholic Grade School and graduated from Mount Carmel Catholic High School where he forged lifelong friendships and made fond memories hat would carry him through his life.
Earl was known for his sense of humor and ability to make friends and family laugh and smile, and his presence was a source of comfort to many.  He was an avid sportsman in his youth and an accomplished swimmer and water-polo player.
Earl’s professional career included many successes in the insurance and finance fields.  He was a life – long practicing Roman Catholic with a great devotion to the faith.  He was never seen not wearing his brown Scapular.  He also served as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Earl will be remembered not only for his love and dedication to his family but also for his loyalty and devotion to all those he held dear.  He loved the great outdoors and exploring new places.  For the last six months of his life, he moved to Montana where he spent countless hours traveling through Big Sky country and sending videos and pictures of his adventures to all his family and friends.
As we mourn the loss of our beloved brother, we also celebrate the joy, love, and laughter he brought into our lives.  His memory will continue to inspire us, and we will carry the lessons he taught us in our hearts forever.
Earl is survived by a multitude of family who will love and miss him.  He is survived by his siblings: Candy Pravitz (Ken), Sophia Rose Dodd (Laurin), Jim Santy ( Deana); nephews: Kenny Pravitz (Stasi), James, Joseph, John, and Justin Santy; great niece: Alice Louise Pravitz; aunt Delphine Smoljan; and a multitude of cousins in the U.S. and Croatia.
