Obituary

Douglas Octavius Coe

A long-time Southern California resident, Douglas Octavius Coe, passed away the afternoon of July 18 th in his Newport Beach home.  Douglas was born on October 17, 1927, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kirk Coe of Topeka, Kansas.

While living in Kansas, he was a partner in the family company, Coe Seed Company.  Douglas worked many years as a financial controller for various employers and, at one time, owned several businesses in Santa Monica.

His many interests and activities during his long life included traveling, playing Party Bridge, attending musical theater, dining out and showing gaited and hunter-jumper horses.

Douglas served our nation at the end of WWII in the U.S. Navy and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He is pre-deceased by his parents and life-partner, Joseph H. Heffner. His partner Glen Morse survives him.  Douglas was a gregarious, sweet, and fun loving man.  He will be sorely missed by his many friends.

A celebration of Douglas’ life will be held in September.  Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetary, Topeka, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hoag Hospital Foundation, 330 Placentia Avenue, Suite 100, Newport Beach, CA 92663 or a charity of your choosing.
