Obituary
Dorothy ‘Dot’ Schroeppel, nee Dressel, born in Collinsville, IL on June 29, 1921, died on September 26, 2008 in her home in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Dorothy spent most of her life in Collinsville and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She was very active in the Collinsville Junior Service Club in the 1960s, and enjoyed styling hair in her basement beauty shop. She also was a hairdresser when she moved to Fountain Valley, CA. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Ella Dressel, nee Lochmann. Surviving are Harold ‘Sonny’ Schroeppel, her husband of 68 years; daughters Chris Guinan of Hot Springs, AR and Liz Schmidt of Foothill Ranch, CA; and her granddaughter, Alexa Schmidt. Liz, you have my deepest sympathy with the passing of your mother. I know how difficult this time is for you as I lost my mother last year. Your mother was always so sweet and friendly to me and I cherish the times I was at your house when we were little. Every time I drive by your home on West Main Street I think of you and remember all of the times we spent together. You made the best Barbie doll clothes! I remember spending the night at your grandma’s house and you bowing down and saying “salami, falami, balonie” and I laughed hysterically! I miss you and wanted you to know that you are thought of often. Please extend my sympathy to your family.
