Obituary

Doris Taylor Gwinn 83 was born August 19, 1922 in St. Clairsville, Ohio. She moved to Cleveland during WWII and there she met Victor. They were married in 1947 in Detroit, Michigan and had two boys: Phillip in 1953 and Jeffrey in 1961.

Doris & Victor were active socially, hosting and attending Canasta Club meetings with a close group of friends.

She was a good cook and often tried out new recipes. In the 1970’s Doris tried to change the family over to a more vegetarian, healthy diet and although she was not totally successful, she raised everyone’s consciousness about eating health foods.

After her children were in school Doris went back to work part-time in the 1970’s at the Edison Institute in Greenfield Village, Dearborn, Michigan where she worked for over ten years.

When her husband Victor retired in 1985, they moved to Leisure World in Laguna Woods, California to be near their sons. After settling in Laguna Woods, they enjoyed swimming, biking, exercising and traveling. They traveled to Europe and around the United States including California and visited their relatives.

Doris often befriended and helped neighbors. She was known for going out of her way to help elderly neighbors by driving them where they needed to go and visiting them often.

She was known as an easy person to talk with and many people shared their experiences with Doris over the years.

Doris is survived by loving sons Phillip, Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Sandy. She was dearly loved by many and will be deeply missed by all.

Memorial Mass will be held on Friday , February 17, 2006 ~ 9:00 A.M. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Laguna Woods, California.

Memorial Service will be held on a later date in Michigan.
