Obituary

Doris Jane Wilcox, 86, longtime resident of Leisure World in Laguna Woods, CA, died on July 7th, 2014, after a short period of failing health. She is survived by stepchildren Melinda and her son Nick of Phoenix, AZ and Alan, of Austin, TX; and sisters Paula Baldi of Sacramento, CA and Susan Messina of Clarkston, MI, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Thaddeus (T.C.), and her brother Gerald Klosky. Doris was born on January 12, 1928 to Paul Klosky R.Ph., and Edna Price Klosky in Detroit, Michigan.

She earned her degree in pharmacy from Wayne State University and joined the family drug store business in Detroit. She was active in Lambda Kappa Sigma, Soroptomist International of Grosse Pointe, MI, and the U.S. Women’s Curling Association. In addition to curling and figure skating, she was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain. Doris filled an new address book with long-lasting friends wherever T.C.’s work took them, from Detroit to London to Minneapolis to Atlanta. In retirement, they chose Leisure World in 1985. She reveled in many activities, including lawn bowling, swimming, and Chinese brush and porcelain painting, at which she excelled. She exhibited many works at the Laguna Woods Art Association. We will remember Doris for her beauty, her creative and generous spirit, her sense of humor (‘Are You Being Served’ was a favorite TV show of hers), but most of all for her love of friends and family.

Memorial Mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church on 8/4/2014 at 9:00am followed by interment service at Ft. Rosecrans at 1:30pm. She will be interred next to her husband T.C.
