Obituary

Donna Lee Hadley passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Donna was the daughter of Leslie and Helen Robinson and grew up in Long Beach, CA. She married the love of her life, Glen Howard Hadley, on December 13, 1947, who preceded her in death as did her daughter Christeen Hadley Egnew.

In addition to being a devoted mother, grandmother and skilled homemaker, she helped care for her daughter Christeen during her long illness until her death. She then took it upon herself to help raise, love and nurture Christeen’s 4 children. Donna had many talents, playing the piano, cooking, and was a very skilled seamstress/quilt maker. Her quilts are a family treasure.

As a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be remembered as a loving, giving person with a wonderful sense of humor and clever wit. She always put her family first. Our mother leaves us with memories of a lifetime filled with fun.

Donna is survived by her sons Glen Hadley (Linda), Gary Hadley (Su); daughter Lesley Dawn Barnes (Dave); fourteen grandchildren and 13 1/2 great-grandchildren.

Services for Donna will be held in Bountiful, Utah on Saturday, April 20, 2013.

Gmud you will be forever missed, and loved. I was so lucky to have been able to move to California, because of you telling me to, and the best Auntie Lesley, and best Uncle Dave anyone could hope for, and actually giving me a chance and believing in me. I will always remember all the wild and crazy things you and I did together, whether it was going to Costco, just to look around and leaving buying a whole lot, to going down to the beach and me parking you right in front of a bush where you couldn’t even see the radiant beauty of the ocean, to going to the pool in Leisure World, and you making sure I made sure no men were checking you out:). If it wasn’t for you gmud I never would have gone to Massage School, and become a massage therapist. I have been so lucky and blessed to have spent the past 2 1/2 years with you. You’ve made my life worry free and brought so much happiness, and joy in my life, you’ve ALWAYS loved me unconditionally, and I know no one has or ever will love me how you did. I know I have regrets in my life, but with you Gmud I have absolutely none! love you Gmud!

    XO BREANNE EGNEW

Grandma was such a strong woman, and she was so hilarious! Her “tell it like it is” sense of humor was the best! I remember when she taught me to cross-stitch and I got to use whatever I wanted out of her sewing stuff, and I sat on that vinyl couch… Love you Grandma!
