Donna Rae Gaines (Osland), 84, passed away after a lengthy illness on September 17, 2016. She was born on September 15, 1932 to Norvald and Mildred Osland in St James, Minnesota.

She grew up in St James and attended St James High School where she excelled at sports and graduated in 1950. She attended Augsburg College for one year and then transferred to Mankato State Teachers College (Minnesota State University, Mankato) where she received a BS in Education and met the love of her life Tom Gaines. They moved to Southern California in 1962. Donna taught Junior High PE for over 25 years while raising four children.

Donna enjoyed cooking, shopping, golf and many good friends and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her children Shawn, John and Steve (Kim); grandchildren Sarah, Whitney, Lynsey and Kyle; siblings Norvald Osland Jr (Rockford, MN), Jackie “Osland” Balstad (Stillwater, MN) and her twin brother Dennis Osland (Knoxville, TN). She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Gaines, son Bradley Gaines and her parents Mildred and Norvald Osland.

Memorial service is scheduled for 11am on October 8, 2016 at Capo Beach Church, 25975 Domingo Ave, Capo Beach, CA 92624.
