Obituary

Swindle, Donald Walter, 83, passed away on Friday, December 30, after a brief illness. Donald was born December 5, 1933 in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his sons, Carl (Jodi), Robert (Cathy), 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Annette (Bill) Sams, and brother-in-law, Paul (Margaret) Larmour. He was preceded in death by his bride of 61 years, Marjorie Anne, sons, James and Daniel, daughter Elisabeth, and his parents Francis and Amy Swindle.

Don attended the University of Arizona, graduating with honors as a Mechanical Engineer. Upon his graduation, they moved to California in 1961 and lived in Ontario, Upland, Torrance, Camarillo, Cypress, and Mission Viejo. Don's professional career began as a Plant Engineer for Southern California Edison. During his 30-year career with Southern California Edison, he managed numerous plants before retiring in 1992 as Plant Manager for Redondo Beach Generation Station. In 1973, Don successfully passed the Professional Engineer Exam, an accomplishment he was very proud of.

Don loved playing golf, and had a keen interest in photography. He participated in many Edison Golf Tournaments, and he and Marjorie Anne traveled the world extensively, enjoying many cruises with lifelong friends. Don and Marjorie Anne were members of Candlewood Country Club in Whittier for many years.

A celebration of Don's life will be held at O'Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2017. Contributions to the American Cancer Society in his honor can be made in lieu of flowers.
