Obituary
Donald R. Richkas, 70, of Aliso Viejo, CA, passed away on June 23, 2024.
Don was born on November 14, 1953 in East St. Louis, IL to Donald and Carol Richkas. He lived his childhood in O’Fallon, IL where he excelled in track and football. In the 80’s he moved to southern CA, eventually settling down in Newport Beach. In 1987 he met Debi, who would become his wife. During their 37 years together, they lived life to its fullest. They enjoyed traveling, roadtrips on his Harley, dining out, and a good glass (or 2) of wine.
Don had a passion for running. He ran many marathons, qualifying for Boston Marathon twice. When he was 53 years old he competed in his first full Ironman race. He would go on to become a 10 time Ironman. When anyone would ask Don how he was doing, his response was always “Living the dream.” And this he did.
Don is survived by his devoted wife Debi. Loved and missed by his sister Debbie Miller, brother Dave (Gina Meno) Richkas, sister Dawn Harper, and brother Michael (Angela) Castro. Forever remembered by his step-children Michelle (Paul) Wood, Greg (Kathy) LaCroix, and Debbie (Mark) Easley; his nieces Sarah and Caitlin; his nephews Chris, Mike, Nick, Andrew, Brandon, Ryan, Nick, Kaimana and Koa; sister-in-law Tama Post and mother-in-law Angie Post.
