DONALD J. VOLLER
Donald James Voller, was born on September 2, 1931 in Oak Park, Illinois to James and Marie (Bouska) Voller. After a full life of service to others and devotion to his faith, Don peacefully passed away on July 30, 2023 in Laguna Hills, California at the age of 91.
Surviving are his three children, Pam (Ned) Hemric, Michael (Sharon) Savage, and Jane (Mark) Hough, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a godson, Joseph Fleming.
As a young man, he attended Northwestern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education upon his graduation on June 15, 1953.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Army from October 16, 1953 as an active and reserve service member until his honorable discharge on October 31, 1961.
On October 6, 1980, Don married the love of his life, Helen Savage Voller. Helen passed in 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother and step-sister.
Don’s career was in the insurance industry as underwriter and consultant, with CNA Insurance, Tillinghast Towers Perrin, and along with Helen, partners at Voller, Savage & Associates.
Don enjoyed road trips and his travels to Europe, Israel, Hawaii and annual family trips to Las Vegas.
Don was a devoted father and grandfather who never missed a birthday, holiday or opportunity to attend family events regardless of travel distance. He loved to FaceTime with his great-grandkids every chance he could. There was never any doubt that the children and grandchildren knew how much Don loved and cherished each and every one.
He was a long-time parishioner of St. Nicholas Church in Laguna Woods, and served as a Special Minister of the Holy Eucharist. Don also volunteered for many years at Saddleback Hospital after retirement. Don’s kindness and selflessness has touched and enriched the lives of many people throughout his life. He will be missed.
A Catholic funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 13 at 10:00am in the chapel of O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills. Graveside service will follow at 11:30am at Ascension Cemetery, 24754 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, where he will rest with Helen.
