BALLANTI, Dominic E.

Dominic E. Ballanti. 92, passed away May 18, 2007 at his home in Mission Viejo. He leaves behind his loving wife Agnes Margaret, his sister Clara Buonomo of New York City and four sons, Robert Ballanti of Boise, ID; Donald Ballanti of El Cerrito, CA; Steven Ballanti of Sacramento, CA and Ronald Ballanti of Chatsworth, CA. He was also blessed with six grandsons, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter.
Dominic was born in New York City in 1914 to Italian immigrants Gaetano and Filomena Ballanti. An attorney who served in the U.S. Army during WWII, Dominic retired as a Lt. Colonel after 25 years of service in the Army Reserves. He also enjoyed a distinguished 37-year career with the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs, retiring in 1980.
?Dom? was known to all for his youthful disposition and abundant energy. After losing his first love, Dorothy, to cancer in 1986, he remarried at age 73 and enjoyed 19 more happy years. He remained active until the end, enjoying spending time with family at his mountain cabin, watching horse races and, most of all, fishing with friends and family.
A memorial service and celebration of Dom’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 3 at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Pkwy., Laguna Hills, CA 92653, 949 581-4300, www.oconnormortuary.com.

  1. One of my favorite memories of Dominic was when Loren was an infant. We visited Grandpa and Grandma in Mission Viejo. Grandpa swooped him up and sat Loren on his knee, bouncing him up and down and singing a little ditty over and over again. It was so cute!! I’d never seen that side of him before. He was a fun Granpa!

    And then there was the straightening up the forest…
