Domenica "Mamie" Cusimano, was known by many as Zia Mimi, and by her biggest fans, as "La Nonna".  She entered the gates of heaven on January 2nd, 2023, at the age of 88. She was a beloved matriarch to a large Italian family. Above all else, she was a courageous mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She left her hometown of Montevago, Sicily at the age of 20 with hopes of a better life in America.  She met her husband, Rosolino Cusimano, in Chicago, Illinois. Together they found great success in the restaurant business, but she was most proud of her family. Domenica was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Concetta Amodeo (Claudio) and Anna Carno. Though her grandchildren: Dennis (wife Leslie), Sandi (husband Dwane), Victor (betrothed Adriana), Nica and Cettina, were her life, it was her great-grandchildren: Joseph, James, Etta, Nina and Audie, that gave her the greatest joy.

Domenica always thought of others before herself. She had a way of making you feel special and valued. You became a better person because of her. Family unity, health and hard work were paramount to her. She was a lady of few words, but you never wondered what she was thinking.  She led by example all the while sporting her perfectly matched jewelry and bright red lipstick.

Her family, both near and far, honor her strength, love and soul. She continues to be the warmest, most loving Nonna we know. Ti amo Nonna.

Visitation and Rosary will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at O'Connor Mortuary located at 25301 Alicia Pkwy, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. Domenica's Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Basilica located at 31520 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675.

Following the funeral mass, she will be laid to rest at Ascension Cemetery located at 24754 Trabuco Rd, Lake Forest, CA 92630 and a light reception will follow at the Sun & Sail Club located at 24752 Toledo Way, Lake Forest, CA 92630.
