Obituary

Grandma Dee: A wife, a mother, a grandma & great-grandma’the sweetest of spirits, cheerful, fun, positive & encouraging!

Her family was everything to her: She displayed this through her thoughtfulness, generosity & love.

She expressed her love for her family in many ways from knitting Christmas stockings for everyone to making blankets for all the babies, her joy.

We all loved and adored our sweet Grandma Dee. She gave us joy, laughter, and a legacy of family devotion. Her memory will be a blessing forever.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Lynn. She had 3 grandchildren: Christopher, Heidi & Katchen. She had 7 great-grandchildren: Kylie Kay 10, Kaden 8, Sara 6, Israel 5, Madden 2, Nathan Ray 2 & Aubrey Lynn 1.

Dolores Marie was born November 20th 1928 in Alhambra, California. She was the only child of Gladys & Bud Toone. Gladys was a homemaker & Bud was a builder and manager of a lumberyard in San Fernando, California.

Dee was well liked with many friends from kindergarten through high school. She was class president of her senior class. She attended UCSB in Santa Barbara, California meeting her lifetime sweetheart Ray Turner. They married on Valentines Day in 1948. Their great joy was when their only child Kathy was born in 1949.

Ray began his teaching career while Dee was a stay at home mom who managed her home well. Her gifts included hospitality, sewing, knitting, cooking and of course bowling.

When she and Ray moved to Washington in 1979, it was there that their beloved cabin on Sinclair Island became a favorite family sanctuary. Mother was always organizing, planning, cooking, and spoiling all who came to visit.

Dee moved back to California in 2006 after Ray’s illness. She especially enjoyed the blessing of being close to her family again.

Our greatest joy is that Grandma Dee is now in heaven with Jesus forever, and that one day we will see her again.
