Obituary
KEN’ DEREK KYNAN WENDT
Loving son of Clifford L.Wendt and Karen Sue Wendt. Derek was born April 3, 1982, in Merrillville, IN at 11:40 am. He unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 4:02 am.
Derek was raised in Irvine, CA. He graduated from Irvine high school in June 2001 and attended college at Orange Coast Community College.
Derek enjoyed working with the public and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his parents, Clifford and Karen; stepmother Nancy; sister, Chelsea Tara; daughter, Caitlyn Vivian Wendt; significant other, Sarah Buba; grandparents, Don & Doris Shane, Sweetser, IN, and Leonard & Genevieve Wendt, Warsaw, IN; Pamela Randall James aunt, Bellefontaine, OH; Robert Sandy Shane uncle, Parker, CO; Paul Clair Wendt, cousin Patrick Chrissann Shane, Ladera Ranch, CA; Dan Jill Wendt, Chandler, AZ; Thomas Gabriella Wendt, Cypress, CA; Sonja Wendt, Gilbert, AZ, and many cousins and friends. Derek was dearly loved by many and will be deeply missed by all.
Derek is preceded in death by his grandmother, Juanita Shane and his uncle, Richard Shane.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 from 7-9pm at O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, CA.
Second Visitation was held on Thursday, October 12th, 2006 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Irvine, CA.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, October 12th, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Irvine, CA. The Burial Service was immediately followed at El Toro Memorial Park in Lake Forest, CA.

Hey Ken Derrick,
Im sorry your Bears lost but I know that your own league the Bears won. I guess that was the dream I had the night before the game. In the real league the Colts won and in your league the Bears won. I wish that I could hear your voice again. I miss it. Your the man of my dreams and life. Whenever I ask Caitlyn where her daddy is she says heaven. Caitlyn turned 20 months on Saturday and I know what you would do if you were here you would buy her a gift like you always did. I love you soooooooooooooooo much Derrick and I cant wait to see you again someday. First I have to take care of your daughter for you.

Dear Derek,
I’m getting to know your father, your daughter, and your sweetheart, Sarah. They are a lovely family and miss you so very much. You are never far from their thoughts and their hearts whch says soooo much about you.
Little Kaitlin is absolutely adorable and really smart! She knows who her Daddy is and I’m certain she will NEVER forget you. Sarah is making sure of that.
I know you’ll go to every single game with you Dad from now on. He needs to know you guys are still sports buddies, even when you root for different teams!
Your role now is to be an ever-present guardian angel. Every one needs you and it’s a job you will do very well.
Rest in peace Derek. You are truly missed and loved.

Hey Ken Derrick,
How are you? What is heaven like. I felt you the other day. I know that you are with me, Caitlyn and the rest of the family at all times. I just wish that I could see you. Caitlyn turns 21 months today at 6:48pm tonight and I know that if you were here you would be celebrating. You always got her a gift everytime she got another month older. I promise i am trying to get my lisence. Its so hard for me to passed the written test. I now that you must be proud of me for at least coming this far. I just wish that you were here physically to help me. I love you and miss you sooooooooooooooooooooo much.
