Obituary

Riopel, Dennis Paul, died of cancer on June 17 at home surrounded by his wife Ellen of 50 years and his children and other family members.

Denny retired 6 years ago following a career in sales, most recently as an insurance agent for the Knights of Columbus. Denny was very proud of his relationship with the First Friday Friars, Catholic Cursillo and the Knights; his many roles included Grand Knight, District Deputy and head of the Columbian Squires. Denny received many awards for his contributions to the Knights, insurance associations and community services, including Orange County Catholic Man of the Year in 2008.

Denny is survived his wife, Ellen; son, Paul Leslie and grandson, Alexander Riopel; daughter, Patrice Darrell and grandsons, Christopher and Jonathon Lee; brothers, Dave Lora, Bob Cheryl, Richard Harriett, Bill Suwan, John Joyce and Phil Margie Riopel. He was preceded in death by parents John and Ardis Riopel and brother Michael.

A viewing 6:00 and rosary 7:00 will be held Tuesday evening, June 22, and the funeral will be Thursday at 10 am, both at St. Norbert’s Church in Orange.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Columbian Squires, Buena Park Circle, Buena Park.

    Denny was an extraordinary man. He treated everyone with kindness and appreciation. His selflessness, dedication and high integrity was inspiring to all that knew him. He is greatly missed. I love you cousin Denny!!
