Obituary

Debbie Newell Bidock
February 9, 1958 – May 6, 2017

Debbie Newell Bidock went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday May 6th after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 59. The beloved wife of Jim Bidock, Debbie is remembered as a loving, caring wife, sister, aunt, and devout Christian. Always selfless and never forgetting a birthday, wedding anniversary, or any special occasion, she simply wanted other people to be happy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Virginia Newell Jr, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Newell Becker and Gary Becker and father-in-law Jerry Bidock and nephew Corey Willyard.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Jim Bidock; her brother and sister-in-law, Bo and Sheila Newell and nephew Aron Newell; her sister and brother-in-law, Genny and John McIntyre and niece and nephew, Madi and Mason McIntyre. Mother-in-law Gertrude, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Karen and James Willyard, nephews and nieces Brenton (Andrea), Angela (Nick), the late Corey and Lindsey. Kathy and Jerry Heath, nephews and nieces Gerard, Rachael, Michael. Judy and Patrick Gleeson, nephews and nieces Victoria and Tyler. Steven and Jennifer Bidock, nephews and nieces Caitlin (Alec) and Monet. As well and numerous grand nephews and nieces.

Debbie was born in Houston, Texas, but spent the first years of her life in Denver, Colorado and Los Angeles, California, only to return to Houston at the age of eight. Debbie graduated from Memorial High School in 1974, and then headed to San Marcos to study at Texas State University. When she was 23, she met Jim, the love of her life. After marrying Jim, four years later, they moved to California. They spent the next 31 years traveling up and down the West coast of North America, one of her favorite spots being Zion National Park in Utah. She absolutely loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature. Never wanting to fly, she and her husband spent much of their lives looking out the window of their car as they journeyed from one beautiful location to the next. She absolutely loved driving and thought it was the best way to view the world.

Her devoted husband never left her bedside, nursing and taking care of her in her final days. They truly are the loves of each other’s lives.

Debbie also loved their dogs Sasha, Norway and Tasha.

Jim and Debbie thank CareChoices Hospice and Palliative Services for all their help.

‘Jordan’

The wolves look to the moon
And the ocean to the sky
I’ve loved you my whole life
Now I have to say goodbye

But to say that I’ve lost you
It’s a selfish thing to say
I’ve never seen nothing as beautiful
As watching you slip away

I’d rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to stay right here with me
I’ll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free

You did it all with feeling
And failure, you took it gracefully
You said third star to the right
And straight on until morning
When you need me, you know
That’s where I’ll be

Now the rest of my life without you
Right now it’s hard to conceive
You said, don’t cry for me now
You’ve got to remember
There is no death for those that believe

I’d rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me
I’ll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free
Let your soul go free

I’ll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul be free
I’d rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me

On the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free
In the arms of the angels
Than keep you right here with me

Meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Than to keep you right here with me
Rather see you go in the arms of the angels
Let your soul be free

Meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Let your soul be free
See you go in the arms of your angels
Than keep you right here with me

Jim- I am so very sorry and sad to here about the passing of Debbie. Your ski trip to Colorado was memorable. She was so funny and sweet. I loved how she would say your name in her southern accent. The moccasins she bought Katie were her favorite. Watching Counting Crows in that small bar in California. I’ll pray for you Jim….Karen Lemasters

  2. We were so lucky to have Debbie in our family. She was always happy and ready to laugh. She was one of the kindest people I have even known.
It was amazing that she was able to remember the birthdays of all the kids and the special things about them even though she didn’t see them often.

I will miss her silly laugh, her kind words and her positive attitude.

    Too Soon Debbie

  3. Debbie was the sweetest, most caring and generous person. She had a heart full of love and was quick to laugh. Even as her health declined she remained a bright light and positive spirit, and was still more concerned about making others happy. You were one of a kind and we were blessed to be part of your life. You will be missed.

Love Terry and Terrie Fletcher and family.

  4. Angie says:

  5. Jim, my heart breaks for you. We are all thinking of you and praying for you. Debbie was such a sweetheart and so much fun to be around, she was one of a kind.
