Obituary
David M. Seroski
(1951-2021)
David Seroski of Trabuco Canyon, CA passed away at home on September 22, 2021 at the age of 70.
Dave’s life was defined by his exuberant spirit and his concern for others. He spent most of his career working at the Newport Beach Police Department, ensuring they had cars that “ran fast, braked fast, and crashed well.” His concern extended to his canyon community. He cheerfully gave help when it was needed, and his neighbors learned to rely on him to track down scarce information when fires raged nearby.
Family was extremely important to Dave. Dave and his wife, Susan, were married for 33 years after a 3 year courtship, and he always made sure she knew she was loved and cherished. He loved his son, Shawn Fidler, and while Shawn grew up, Dave proudly forced anyone he could corner to hear about his “smart kid”.
Around the Canyon, Dave’s love for his horses Ted and Max was common knowledge. He treated the horses with gentleness, care, and a sense of humor and the horses loved him in return. Other horses learned to know Dave for the great treats he carried and frequently riders found their horses sideling up to Dave to get one.
David is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Shawn Fidler (Lori); and his sisters Patricia O’Neill and Beth DiMarcantonio.
Services for Dave will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Viewing is from 10 to noon at O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, followed at 12:30 with graveside services at El Toro Memorial Park on Trabuco Rd in Lake Forest.

So sorry Sue and Shawn. Such an awful time for you two. I’m so proud of you Shawn for taking such good care of your mom. It just doesn’t seem possible Dave is gone. He had such a lust for life and his family. He did so much for mom and dad and anyone else who needed help. I’m sure he’s watching over you from Heaven, with mom and Dad. I love you two. See you Monday.

Rest in peace David. You were always so kind to my Dad and Mom after Uncle Clem passed away. I always heard the reports from Dad when you called, sent fruit and vegetables from your garden all the way across the US to Pennsylvania for them to enjoy. You were an extremely kind and gentle soul. Even though I am quite a bit younger, you were one of the few cousins that reached out to me directly following both Mom and Dad’s passing – that mean so much. Rest in peace dear Cousin. Jeff

I could not have hand picked a better brother or partner in crime growing up. We were always together, watching out for one another and I am blessed with so many happy memories. I am going to miss him more than words can say. He was always there for me and now that he is gone, there is a light in my life that is extinguished. Love you David and I hope you are having a blast in heaven. Look down on me once in a while so I know you are still watching out for me and know that you are always in my heart.

Uncle Dave was a good-hearted person who was always smiling and happy; he looked at the glass as mostly full, even if it was mostly empty. We don’t have enough off those people in the world, so it’s always tough when we lose one. I feel honored and privileged to have known him and I offer up my sincerest condolences to his wife Sue, his son Shawn and all the other friends and family who are suffering from his loss.
