Obituary
David Garcia, 74, was born April 2, 1940 and passed away May 27, 2014. A retired Command Sargeant Major in the US Army, Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife Marion Elizabeth Garcia; daughter Lucy Morrow; son Paul Garcia; and grandchildren Kimberly Morrow, Karly Morrow and Brandon Garcia.
Graveside service will be at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014 at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego. Please arrive at Miramar no later then 12:30pm, service will promptly start at 1:00pm.

Sergeant Major Garcia was a great leader of Soldiers without a doubt. He also enjoyed working on Los ALamitos taking care of the buildings for the Soldiers who worked in them. He was always willing to help and give out some friendly advice even after he retired from the CA Army National Guard. I will be forever grateful to have known such an amazing Soldier who served with Pride and Dignity for Freedom, Life and Liberty~

When I think of Dave I smile, because I could not walk by his office without him pulling me in and teaching me something about Operations. That was his passion and he was the best at it! But he also took the time to mentor me about all aspects of Life, to make me a better person. He was a kind and concerned person that touch everyone he served with! Thank You CSM Garcia.

Dave was always there for his Soldiers as a leader, mentor and friend. We made many of trips together on exercises, Warfighters and to Japan for Yama Sukura XXXIII. Thank you Dave for being a part of my life and helping me on my journey. I am so sorry for your loss. Dave will always be a special part of my heart and memories.

I also met Master Sergeant Dave Garcia when he was in the HQ 40th Inf Div many years go. I worked for the Hqs & Hqs Det, AFRC, Bldg 57. He was an individual you could not say No to if he need a task or mission completed. He was also there for anyone who need help or support. If you need help, Dave was the one to go to. He was a good teacher and one of my mememtors. I will miss him and his support. My prayers go out to his wife and family. He will be missed by all. God bless all.

I met Dave back in the early nineties; he was a Master Sergeant then. I remember helping him out while he was the OPS SGM with a software package called Harvard Graphics. I have since been recruited as his friend, his soldier and almost as his son, as we were advanced party, main and rear party to a lot of War Fighter exercises both nationally in Camp Roberts, Camp San Luis Obispo, Fort Leavenworth, and many more, as well as Overseas Warfighters like Yama Sakura in Camp Asaka, near Tokyo in Japan. Even after his retirement around 2000, he came to pull me away for our daily lunch as he worked on JFTB as the Operations and Training Officer, for the next 10 years, and after I had retired, he still pulled me to go to daily lunches, we always laughed and joked, and shared a lot of his wisdom and knowledge with me and others. I have learned so much from Dave, and I can truly say that I know no one else who has made me laugh so hard and so much during our times. I’ll never hear his sweet voice shouting “Hey Joe!” anymore. My tears still have not stopped for Dave and especially for Marion, Paul and Lucy. I can truly say, my Family has truly benefited being a part of Dave’s life. Even Sandra and my kids are taking it hard. God Bless you, ‘Jefe’, and I Love and will truly miss you.
