  1. I worked with Dave from 1983 to 1992 and even though its been more than 15 years since we were colleagues, he greeted me as a old friend whenever we ran into one another. I began my career at WGA as a young man right out of college. Dave always gave me respect and support. He took as much time as necessary to explain things to me as I was learning my way along. His warmth and friendship have always meant a lot to me and it was great to sometimes see him in Las Vegas or at Dr. Tassey’s dental office. Maria, please know Dave has positively affected so many people throughout the years. I can not stop thinking about him. I remember one time when Daryl Arnold and Don Dressler were in Cabo for a meeting and I noticed the furniture rep from down the street was in the lobby. I had not scheduled a meeting so I asked why she was there. Dave was seeking estimates to add a couch to his office to compensate for the fact that he did not have as many square feet as some of the other VPs. I begged him to wait until Daryl and Don returned to avoid a crisis. He listened to me and was rewarded when they agreed to pay a contracter to move his wall 2 feet and make his office bigger. Dave was a rare financial expert with warmth and personality. Our friendship has been cut short but I’m glad we had our time together.

  3. Paula Lister says:

Dave was the funniest and kindest man I knew at Western Growers. He gave me one of his favoite hats….from a team in Hawaii, simply because it was my favorite color… I will treasure it always. This planet will be less humorous. God Bless the entire Shaw family and friends.

  4. Art Zerla says:

I worked at WGA for 20 years and Dave was more than just a fellow employee. Humor, fun, ask Dave a question and you would get at least an hour of detailed explanation. A fine MAN.

  5. Maria -I will always remember our great times together at The Western Growers Annual Meetings. Dave certainly was a unique individual and a great friend to Jim. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I am deeply sorry for your loss.
