Obituary

Dae Choong Kim, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 20, 2026, at the age of 75. He is survived by his loving wife, three children, and six grandchildren, whom he adored above all else. He was humble and loyal with friends and family, and strong and silent through adversity. Deeply cherished, he will be missed by all who knew him.

Born in Korea, Dae was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Seoul National University, College of Medicine in 1976. After completing medical school, he immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with his wife in 1980. A dedicated physician, he spent years serving patients in the hospital setting before relocating to California in 1994 to establish his own practice, where he continued his work over the next 30 years. He was always curious and loved learning about the world around him. He held a vast amount of knowledge on history, astronomy, politics, sports, and science. While he expressed his love through actions and gifts more than words, he was happiest when spending quality time with those closest to him.

His grandchildren—Remy, Bailey, Cecilia, Leo, Ryan, and Celine—were the light of his life and remain his proudest legacy. His memory will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
