Craig Stephen
Delfs
April 4, 1949 – January 2, 2009
Delfs, Craig Stephen of San Juan Capistrano, 59, went home to be with The Lord on January 2, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Craig was born on April 4, 1949 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Harvey Delfs and Olive Jacobson Delfs. He was the youngest of three sons including Harvey Delfs, Jr. and Dennis Delfs deceased. Craig and his family moved to Anaheim, California in 1956 and graduated from Loara High School in 1967. Craig then faithfully and proudly served his country in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, Craig met and fell in love with his precious Ruth Kruger and they married shortly thereafter. As Ruth’s husband, they raised their two fine sons, Christopher Stephen and Ryan Daniel. Craig was a successful real estate developer in California and Arizona. Craig is survived by his mother Olive Olsen; brother Harvey Delfs; wife Ruth Delfs; son Chris and his wife Heather; son Ryan and his wife Christina; and grandchildren Cobie, Cameron, Cali and Jordan, along with aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. Craig will be remembered most importantly for his love and devotion to Jesus Christ, and his love for his family, friends and country. Craig is known for his smile, sense of humor and his infectious laugh which was unmistakable. He loved to spend time boating on the Colorado River with family and friends.
We know Craig would not want us burdened with grief and sorrow, but rather comforted with remembered joy. By God’s grace he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Savior. Therefore, he is not lost to us because we rest assured he is now in the very presence of Jesus. We know we will see him again.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 1:00 pm at Pacific Coast Church, located at 2651 Calle Frontera in San Clemente followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Hope International University www.hiu.edu.
