Obituary
Corinne Patricia Henning, 95, died May 26, 2025 in Mission Viejo California. She was born in Pontiac Michigan on May 11, 1930 to Evelyn Bellmer Brohm and Theodore Brohm. Corinne, or “Pat” as she was affectionately known to family and friends, died peacefully a few weeks after celebrating her 95th Birthday with her children and grandchildren in Irvine California.
Pat spent her early life in Pontiac Michigan before moving with her parents to Oakland California in 1942. She attended Concordia High School & College where her grandfather was the founding President, and pursued a degree in Nursing. While at Concordia she met the love of her life, Donald William Henning. Initially Don was a little nervous to be dating the President’s granddaughter, but the two quickly became soulmates and after attending a friend’s wedding, they decided to drive to Reno Nevada and elope. After a last-minute phone call to their parents, they successfully received approval, a small loan from Don’s father Fred, and were married October 27, 1949.
Following their marriage, they moved to El Cerrito California then Fremont California, where Don and Pat raised four children Linda, Luanne, Tom and Tim. They were long-time members of Prince of Peace Lutheran church and Pat enjoyed many activities including bowling, camping, house-boating, volunteering at the hospital and holding down the Henning Household. She was extremely passionate in her love for animals and very successful in passing this on to her children and grandchildren. On more than one occasion Don would return from a business trip to find a new puppy or kitten happily situated in Pat’s arms. Pat and Don spent 45 happy years together in Fremont as well as Arnold California, San Antonio Texas, and Palm Desert California before Don’s passing in 1995.
Pat is remembered for her life-long faith coupled with her love and commitment to family. She was a rock in dealing with life’s ups and downs and set a great example for her children and grandchildren on how to age gracefully and focus on what is important while keeping her sense of humor. She will continue to be loved and remembered for her warm heart and beautiful smile.
Pat is survived by her 4 children, Linda Autsen, Luanne (John) Cautillo, Tom (Anne) Henning, Tim (Lupe) Henning, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held in Murphys California at a later date.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alma Bonita Animal Rescue (ABAR) in Pat’s name: www.almabonitaanimalrescue.org
