Concepcion Solis (Concha)

February 11, 1937 - August 27, 2026

Concepcion “Concha” Solis, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, was called home by God on August 27, 2026, following a long struggle with dementia. Concha is survived by her husband, Alberto Sr.; her children Elsa, Elvia, Albert Jr., and Lourdes; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her extended family.

Although we mourn her passing, we can celebrate that she is now free from her daily hardship and struggles with dementia. While her later years became difficult, she will be remembered for a life full of love, a giving spirit, resourcefulness, and hardworking disposition.

At the young age of 10, she began working to help her struggling family survive. Her work included helping neighbors with household chores and her mother as they embroidered kitchen towels to be sold. In school, Concha was considered top of her class, excelling in her studies and leadership skills as captain of the school girl basketball team. Unfortunately, life in Mexico was difficult.

At the age of 19, she married her childhood sweetheart. Together they formed a life that would bring them to the U.S. where they worked to raise their four children. Arriving first in New Mexico and then later moving to California. Although life was filled with challenges, Concha was a great example to her family by being generous, frugal and always having a welcoming spirit that touched many lives. Concha always found a way to ensure there was enough food on the table to share with others who might also be in need. Nobody was turned away.

Later in life, Concha would gather school clothes, notebooks, pencils and pencil boxes for children in poor neighborhoods of Mexico. In addition, she helped to finance the establishment of a small church in Baja California that would serve the community Concha cared so deeply for.

Throughout her life, Concha was a living example of the attributes described in Proverbs 31:10-31, “The Wife of Noble Character”. Although she will be deeply missed here on earth, we know she will be celebrated in Heaven.
