Obituary
Surrounded by people who loved and cherished him, Clifford “Cliff” Myers passed away on February 3, 2017 at his home in Lake Forest. He was born on February 24, 1922 in Owensdale, PA. In 1931 his family of six relocated to Los Angeles, CA, where he graduated from Susan Miller Dorsey High School in 1941. Cliff was a veteran of WWII, having proudly served in both the US Merchant Marines and the US Navy. In 1944 he married his childhood sweetheart Marillyn Marie Hallman. Cliff retired from Standard Oil Company (now Chevron) at the El Segundo Refinery after 37 years of service. During his lifetime Cliff was a talented artist and enthusiastic sports fan.Cliff enjoyed baseball, softball, and golf. He was a very kind and generous person.
Cliff is survived by his daughter Judy Horton (Steve), son Jim Myers, grand- daughters Kim Vivian (Mark), Amy Berecz – Ortega (Greg), great-grand daughters Ashley and Lindsey Berecz. He is also survived by in-laws Mavis and Earl Wegner, nephews Tom and Charles Browning, niece Evelyn Laswell, great niece Chrissy Kelly, great nephews David, Kevin, and David Browning. Lastly, Cliff is survived by his numerous and loyal friends.
There will be a celebration of life on May 20, 2017.

Dear Dad,
I had the privilege of being your daughter for 70 years. All the times we shared passed so quickly; we never ran out of things to talk about. You were truly interested in everything and everyone. You took joy in the simple pleasures in life and spread cheer and delight wherever you went. You loved, and were loved and respected by everyone you met.
It was both humbling and inspiring to watch you make the best out of any situation. No matter how bad things got, you did everything thing in your power to lighten everyone’s spirit and see the bright side to even the darkest moment. You truly embraced the old adage of the glass is always half full. With you the grass was always the greenest wherever you were.
Dad, I miss you every day. You were a gracious, loving man who lived the great life lessons you taught. I am a better person for the example you modeled. Your character will remain in the hearts and minds of all those fortunate to have known you. You always gave more than you received; you were the example of unselfishness and commitment to family. You were a living, walking mentor for everyone. You will be remembered always.
I miss you every single day. I have so many wonderful memories, funny stories and warm thoughts of you. Thank you for all of the life lessons you shared with me and those that follow. Thank you for being my Dad.
See you in paradise was our last pact. I will honor that.

Lit a candle in memory of Clifford Myers

It was with great sadness, that we learned of the death of our dear friend, Cliff while we were traveling this winter. Cliff and Mar were dear friends of mine for 45 years, and neighbors for many years. First, for Judy, I ache for you, and the grief and pain I know you are suffering by losing this remarkable man and Father. And,of course, to the rest of the family, for their loss. I loved Cliff so much, he was down-to-earth, fun, wise, caring and a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother in law, and friend. With his beloved wife, Mar, we had many fun times, dinners, celebrations, holidays……and…..how uplifting they were as a couple in my down times. I will always remember coming back to Condon AV., for a visit with my family after moving to CT. in 1981, and my treasured, almost immediate runs across the street to see my beloved friends. You will be deeply missed….Pam Palmer, and spouse, Ida.

On the 30th anniversary of Dan Shannon’s passing, my thoughts are not only with him, but with his pal Cliff. I sure hope that they are reunited, as the depth of their friendship was certainly strong enough to stand the test of time and distance.
I am grateful to have had Cliff in my life and am saddened that with his passing, a chapter has closed. All the men of my Dad’s generation, who were a part of my life, are now gone. They were a generation that was solid to the core – successful men you could count on for their inner strength, stability and a true sportsmanship.
Cliff was one of my favorites and I will miss him. I’ll be sure to look up and give him a wink whenever the Dodgers are in town!
