Obituary

Clarence George Olson was born June 24, 1927, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to C.C. (Red) and Geneva Olson, He graduated from Central High School in June 1944, and in January 1945 he enlisted in the United States Navy until the war ended. He returned to Grand Forks, where he attended the University of North Dakota. While there, he enlisted in the US Air Force Reserve, and kept that assignment until retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel.

In 1964, Cal and his family moved to California and in 1966 the new community of Mission Viejo became home for the nest 57 years. Cal is survived by his wife, Evie, who was his blind date on New Year’s Eve in 1954. They married on September 10, 1955. They have three children, son Guy, daughters Karen and Gail, three grandsons, Erik, Adam, and Jonathan, and a granddaughter Rachel. Cal was blessed to meet both of his great-grandsons, Lukas, and Elliot before celebrating his 96th birthday.

In 2004, he was diagnosed with adult onset hydrocephalus (NPH). This began a slow deterioration of his health, but family and friends were blessed with his funny stories, his sense of humor and his presence for almost 20 years. He went into the arms of Jesus on July 26, 2023, a life well spent.
