Obituary

Christopher Barnes, 53, passed away on March 21, 2009. He was born April 14, 1955 at Sculthorpe Air Force Base in the United Kingdom. Christopher graduated from University High School in 1973. He graduated from University California Irvine in 1976 with a degree in Fine Arts. Christopher learned to fly at El Toro Marine Base and received his pilot’s license in 1974. Christopher began his piloting career at C.E. Miller Corporation as a corporate pilot. Christopher’s career continued at Martin Aviation as a flight instructor and charter pilot. In 1985 Christopher joined the Air California flight crew making him the first and only 2nd generation pilot to fly for the same company as his father. Christopher flew for American Airlines over 23 years and for the last eight years was an international captain on the 767.

Christopher’s hobbies included golf, water and snow skiing, bodysurfing, as well as caring for his lawn and yard. Christopher is survived by Michelle, his wife of 25 years; children, Kalika, Alex, Christopher and Steven; mother and father, Harry and Corrine; four siblings; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be at 10:30am on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Presbyterian Church of the Master, 26051 Marguerite Parkway, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.
