Obituary

Christopher Robert Shepard was born on Groundhog Day, February 2, 1967 at Doctors Hospital, Seattle, Washington. He later moved to Southern California and his youth was spent in Westlake Village and Tustin areas. Upon graduating from Foothill High School, Chris enrolled and thrived at University of San Diego where he played Rugby and developed lifelong friends. He graduated in 1989 from USD with a business administration degree which enabled Chris to hone his business skills in project and time management.  The last eight years were spent at Jones Payne Group/San Diego where he was involved in Field Construction Management providing construction services for the San Diego Airport Quieter Home Program. Chris loved the outdoors and was a true free spirit. He was an avid fly and saltwater fisherman. He could hold his own with many great fishing stories. He knew all the waters from Alaska, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Chile and all around the western United States.

The strongest passion for Chris was Kawasaki Motocross. His bike, his friends and his adventures were a true love.

Wherever Chris went he made and touched friends who loved him for life.  He also touched the hearts of the doctors who worked with him and they stated his strength and spirit were inspiring. Chris’ faith in Jesus Christ gave him the ability to embrace hope through the many challenges he faced. Chris was welcomed into eternal life on April 29, 2020.

Chris is survived by his parents Kitty and Bob Shepard of Palm Desert, CA; his brother Michael Shepard, his wife Colleen and four nieces Molly, Katie, Erin and Delaney of Ladera Ranch; aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral Mass will be held May 13th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ladera Ranch with interment at Ascension Cemetery, Lake Forest.

  1. Dear Bob, Kitty, and family,

We are so sorry for the loss of your beloved son, brother, uncle, and dear friend, Christopher. Becky and I were terribly saddened to learn of his passing and wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you and your entire family at this most difficult time. Our heart aches for you as you suffer and try to cope with what has happened.

Chris was instrumental in getting my son, Jim Bramwell, his first job after he graduated from BYU. Jim and I are extremely grateful to him for giving Jim a chance, and his first start in the business world! I always really enjoyed seeing Chris. Everyone loved him! He was the kind of guy that was fun to talk to and made you feel good! His warm smile and kind, polite, friendly nature made everyone around him feel comfortable and welcome.

Although he will be sorely missed, I hope you will find comfort in the many fond, loving memories of Chris, and in the knowledge that he lives on, is happy and at peace, is personally growing and developing, and some day you will be able to be with him again.

Please know that our love, sympathy, and thoughts and prayers of support are with you and your family.

    Love, Gary and Becky

As I look back on all the fun gatherings we all had at Grandma Wilma’s all I see is love and laughter. I will now treasure these memories a little more. 4. Chris was definitely one of a kind. He was first and foremost hilarious and always could tell a great story about one of his latest excursions….whether it was motor cross, bike riding or fishing….he always would make you feel like you were with him as he told you about his adventures. He was a complete gentleman and always asked about me and my family before telling me about his successes. He was so very happy to tell me about his “wins” when it came to his latest treatment and he genuinely believed he would beat the monster and two times he did. He prevailed. Chris NEVER EVER wanted to have his glass half full….it was always full!! He was such a positive light and force in my world and I know that is what I am going to miss the moat about him. He was a fighter and by did he look his disease right in the eyes. Such a strong man. He also told me every single time we talked that he was so thankful for his family and especially his brother Mike and Mikes family for letting him stay at their home after his 5 days of chemo. The feeling of security he felt while being in the same house as his brother, who is a physician was a feeling he was so thankful for. I told him I was sure the feeling was very mutual….Mike and his family knew he was in good hands while going through all that he went through. Chris, you are so loved and we will see you again someday. I am sure you will have many more stories to tell me once we meet again. Love you !! Marie from USD P.S. I am hoping we can have a celebration of life like Mike said once this Covid 19 is under control.,
