Obituary

Hammond, Christina Marie, aged 49, beloved wife and mother, passed away unexpectedly on October 14th, 2015 in Laguna Beach, CA.

Christina is survived by her loving husband, Mark Hammond, and her children, Brittney Toca, Garic Toca and stepchildren, Holly Hammond and Hunter Hammond; her sister Carol and her husband Costantino De Angelis; and nieces and nephews: Alex Accardo, Alexis McElwee, Francesca De Angelis, Romana De Angelis, Brooke Boyle and Brendan Boyle; her parents-in-law, Clyde and Gloria Hammond; sister-in-law, Lorraine Boyle; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

Christina was born in Morgan City, Louisiana, on March 4, 1966. She attended Louisiana State University and moved to California in 1998. She met the love of her life, Mark, in 2001, and they were married ten years ago.

She worked in accounting as her career, but was a devoted wife and loving mom to her four children. She truly brought our family closer together and supported and guided us with her love and faith. She was a devout Christian and studied the Bible daily, always putting God first in her life.

Christina’s gift and passion for interior design and remodeling homes concluded with an eight-year-long project to build and decorate her dream home. There was nothing that brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her family and she was fortunate to enjoy this special home for several years with her family.

Her hobbies included: snow skiing and cooking-especially Cajun food. She was an avid reader and devoted to exercise as a daily part of her life; she was in tip top shape. Recently, she was learning to play the piano and was quite good at it, especially as a beginner. She had amazing rhythm, liked to dance, and loved driving cars fast! She loved vacationing in Cabo San Lucas with her husband and family, a place that reminded her of the day she married her loving husband.

Anyone who knew Christina was first struck by her natural beauty and then quickly learned that she had an even more beautiful and loving heart. Her gorgeous smile, her contagious laugh, her love of life-we are so grateful for having known her and we shall always remember her.

She will be reunited with her parents Julian Fernandez and Cherie Autin. Until we meet again in Heaven, may you rest in peace.

We love you!

She will be laid to rest on Monday, October 26th, 2015, in a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Make A Wish Foundation, www.wish.org.

  1. Christina~ My beautiful, sweet southern “sister.” I miss you so much. You were as beautiful inside as you were on the outside. What a joy to know you and call you my friend. I see you shining brightly in Heaven with your precious mom and dad and my Bill. Love and miss you forever… Judy

  4. I am saddened and devastated to learn about Chris’ passing. I think I’m the only one in our family that didn’t call her Tina. My heart goes out to her immediate family and to Carol Ann and her family. She was, is, and always will be my baby sister. And I was, am, and always will be her brother. Although I’ve been far away, you’ve always been near and dear to me. Rest in peace, Chris.
