Obituary
Christi Lea Jaeger
October 13, 1947 – October 21, 2024
Christi L. Jaeger went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2024, after a long battle with dementia.
Christi was born and raised in Orange County – a true California girl! As the eldest of 7 children, Christi was kept very busy keeping her younger siblings in line until she met the love of her life, John, at Montgomery Ward. They were married on Oahu in 1968 when John took a leave from the war in Vietnam to marry the beauty who won his heart. Christi was a devoted wife to John and caring mother to her two daughters, Erin and Teri. She was always busy volunteering at her girls’ schools and was a Girl Scout leader for years. Christi was so talented she had lots of different jobs but never let them interfere with being a great mother and wife. Not only did Christi write a book, Teacher, Kids and Logo, but she also taught computer classes in the school district, was a school librarian, and finished her professional life as a paralegal in family law when she retired. After retiring, she went to Joyful Life Bible study and sewing klatch (making dresses and shorts for orphans) every week at her church, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.
Christi had a generous and kind heart, and was always looking for ways to help others. Christi loved to spend time with her family, travel the world, and bake delicious treats – chocolate chip cookies and chocolate chocolate chip cake were her specialties! She was the best travel planner of her time, using newspaper ads and Frommer’s Guides to map out all the hip spots and book hotels in just the right places. Two of her favorite adventures were taking her 5 sisters to Paris and Hawaii, and her sisters still rave about the amazing time they had together! Christi loved being a grandma the most. She loved spoiling her grandkids and never missed a birthday party or school play. Whether it was playing with Barbies, video games, coloring, or going to Disneyland, grandma Christi enjoyed every moment she had with her grandchildren. She would have enjoyed seeing them grow up into the wonderful young adults that they have become.
Her loving husband John has cared for her for over 10 years during her decline, keeping her by his side as long as possible. When she had to be admitted to a group home, John made sure she was in the nicest facility close to him. He never missed a day of visiting with her and always made sure she knew she wasn’t alone. John was by her side holding her hand as Christi breathed her last breath.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa Fellowship Hall on November 4th at 11:00 am.
She is survived by her husband John, her daughters Erin (Mike) Johnson and Teri (Brian) Farone, her 5 grandchildren, Samuel, Grace (Farone), Ashley, Samantha and Trent (Johnson), her 5 sisters, Cathy, Conny, Corri, Carla and Carrie and many more extended family and friends. Christi is preceded in death by her parents, Art and Mae Chase.
Christi was heavily involved in the Sewing Klatch Ministry at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. If you would like to donate, you may visit the church directly or email sewingklatch@cccm.com for additional information and instructions.
