Chris Kassimis
July 28, 1940 to June 4, 2016

Chris Arthur Kassimis of Laguna Hills, CA left us on June 4, 2016 after 75 wonderful years. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Kassimis; his daughter, Pamela Murphy and her husband Joseph Murphy; his son, Peter Kassimis and his wife Kim Kassimis; his stepson Shane Morris and his wife Tammy Morris, and stepson Jared Morris and his wife Stephanie Morris. In addition he is survived by eight grandchildren including Alexis Morris, Katelyn Murphy, Kaylee Morris, Zachary Morris, Alexa Kassimis, Skye Morris, Joseph Murphy, and Luke Kassimis. He was preceded in death by his parents Gloria Pangle Kassimis and Arthur S. Kassimis.

Chris was one of the most caring, giving, loving men and was greatly cherished by all his family and friends. Chris was known as a noble man and led his entire life with pride and dignity. He was born in Brooklyn, NY July 28, 1940. Following high school in 1962, Chris enlisted in the United States Army, and retired as Major in 1968. During that time he served two terms in Vietnam. Following his service, Chris started a successful business based out of Laguna Hills, CA in the steel industry and through his 30 years in the business Chris built many strong partnerships and friendships and earned the reputation as the go to person for anyone wanting to break into the business because of all of his knowledge and network. Chris loved his work and one of his greatest desires was to work all the way to the end. Unfortunately in the last few years he was forced to retire due to health reasons. Besides being a successful business man, Chris was known as the best host ever! You didn’t have to be in a room long without Chris offering you a drink. Chris will be deeply missed.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on June 16, 2016 at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92653 (949) 581-4300. 1. Kathy and Family,
Our hearts go out to you. Nothing is more difficult than having to say goodbye to those we love. Find strength in the blessing that you lived, laughed and loved so well!
Chris was a class act. Ever the gentleman. He was passionate about politics, his love for his country, and his military service. The Riverside National Cemetery is a fitting final address for an honorable man who gave so much.
We pray the memories you made together will bring you comfort.

  2. I am so grateful I was able to visit with Chris one more time just two weeks ago. I feel so blessed to have had Chris in my life – his true friendship and comraderie meant so much to me. I have so many wonderful memories of happy family gatherings and good times with him that will stay with me always. This kind, elegant, intelligent, generous man will forever be in my heart. I will miss him and love him always. Thank you Chris.

  3. Jim Ward says:

Chris was the unseen hand that pushed my father to take the leap and open a business that would burden him with a good living for some decades until his happy retirement. Whether Chris was in the kitchen cabinet (the “office” was at home first), the Greek Uncle (“where’s the money?”), or tech support (“Jimmy let me show you how to put my name in your spell check”) he was always our “Chairman of the Board”.

  4. In our lives we meet and are influenced by all kinds of people. Some have strong personalities and some are just kind of there. Then if we are really lucky we are touched by a truly exceptional being. Chris was one of those. He was the epitome of class, and always a true gentleman. Being the type of person that bumbles my way through life, I have gotten to really appreciate class when I see it. Chris was a great friend to me, his council was always thoughtful and his humor subtle and well crafted. He has been a great friend and influence on my Daughter Stephanie and wonderful Father figure for Jared. I know his Grandkids loved him and cared for him very deeply. We already miss Chris and I’m sure that his touch will never fade from this family. I love you Chris and miss you deeply.

  5. We had only been with Chris a few times at family gatherings but found him to be a caring, friendly gentleman. Our insight into his life was through our Daughter & family as he truly touched their hearts. Now after attending the celebration service of his life
today we can say that we DO know him & the lives he touched with laughter & love.As you continue on without him Kathy fill your life with the things you both enjoyed together
