Obituary
Charles T. Montagna, 87, was born April 8, 1919 in New York and passed away April 18, 2006 at home in Mission Viejo, California. A retired police officer for the N.Y.P.D. , Charles is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Thomas Charles Montagna and his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Mary Ann Orlando and her husband, James; sister, Rose Sabatino; brother, Ralph Montagna; grandchildren, Greg Orlando, Sari Ward, David Arias, Jennifer Mills and Marisa Montagna; great-grandchild, Ethan Mills.

I only wish that I could have met Uncle Charlie but I feel that I have met him through the stories that Grandma Rose has told me. Well at least we know that he now rests in a better place with the Lord Almighty. May you rest in peace Uncle Charlie and my deepest sympathy and prayers to Auntie Ann, Maryann, Tommy and their families.

I only met Charlie once, at a family reunion almost two decades ago. What a joyful man my grandfather Frank’s brother was. I only wish we could have met again; I’m sure there were so many stories for him to tell.
Charlie, your memory will be kept alive by those of us who remain here on earth, and you and your sacrifices will not be forgotten. You make me proud to be a Montagna. Say hi to Grandpa for me.

Dear Anne and Tommie – Thank you for thinking of me at this stressful time. Charlie and I shared a most negative experience as POW’s of the Japanese at Rangoon Prison. His fearless integrity and cheerful attitude helped us all survive under the meanest of circumstances. When we came home we shared a wonderful Italian meal prepared by his Mom. Thank you Tom for setting up our reunion. He was a good friend and I miss him.
