Charles E.
Thayer
March 23, 1950 – October 30, 2013
Charles departed away from us on Wednesday, October 30th at 12:15 p.m. at his home in Dana Point, CA.
He was born March 26th 1950 to George & Rachel Thayer, Palms Michigan, where he was raised and went thru high school. After high school he moved to Saginaw, Michigan where he worked and went to Delta College. After 2 years college, he decided nursing wasn't for him, so he stopped and started construction work. He moved to California in 1978.
Charles, Chuck, Chuckie, Chas – as many would call him – worked for County of Los Angeles Sanitation Districts for 28 years. Two years to go before retirement, before illness.
No one was a stranger to Charles. He was a people person, always a smile, a wave or hello.
He enjoyed his morning coffee and newspaper. After that usually came discussion on government and politics. He enjoyed riding his Honda bike – loved his truck, enjoyed family time with the dogs, Princess, Diamond & Maxie, all in bed together and watching Anderson Cooper. Charles was good with his hands; he could fix most broken things.
Survived by wife: Barbara Ann Cross-Thayer; 2 step-children: Troy Dell Rice, Victoria DeShone Cross; host of grandchildren, John Herrera, Breana Cross, Chatara, Chenae, Keivon, Troy Jr., Gerald. Brother, Denise Thayer & Robin Shaffer – Nephews Michael and Greg Thayer. Niece Monica Catanach. 3 sisters: Carol Trainer and many niece & nephews, Bad Axe, Michigan. Grace & Tony Cibulski – Romulus, Michigan. Denise & Mic Crowe and many nieces and nephews, Harbor Beach, Michigan.
Charles was preceded by his parents Rachel and George Thayer.
Our special thanks to K.P. Oncology Unit.
