Obituary

Charles Joseph Litz was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 5, 1928, the eldest of 2 children.  He later received a football scholarship to University of Delaware, where he was a linebacker for the Fighting Blue Hens.  After graduating with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he taught soldiers anti-missile maneuvers.  Upon leaving the Army he worked for the Department of Defense where he secured 11 patents for the military.

Charles met and married his current wife, Ronalda, in 1971 while working for the Department of Defense and they had two children, Stacey and Mark.  The family moved to Canton, Michigan in 1977 where Charles worked with Ford Motor Company in the Aerospace Division.  The family of 4 moved to California in 1982 where they would settle in Laguna Niguel.

Charles would go on to work for Aerojet General, McDonell Douglas and finally Boeing before retiring.  He and his family have attended St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Laguna Niguel since its inception in 1982.

The best way to describe how Charles lived his life would be to compare him to 1 Corinthians 13, 4-8.  Charles was patient and kind, never envious, boastful or arrogant or rude.  He was not irritable, or resentful.  He did not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoiced in the truth.  And his love for his family was never ending.

Charles is survived by his wife, Ronalda to whom he was married for 52 years, his daughter Stacey (Jonah), son Mark (Maggie), and 4 grandchildren, Eden, Haven, Matthew and Mitchell.  He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital be made in his name.
