Obituary

Celeste Frazier, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and sister slipped quietly into eternity to be with our Lord after a short illness, she was 89.

Born in Rome, Italy, raised in an Italian orphanage, and prompted by her sister, she crossed the Atlantic to America on a steam ship in 1948. It was there she began to learn English while waiting tables and raising her three children.

She eventually moved to Long Beach, California in 1955 where she was a house mom until she began working at Pacific Hospital in 1962. She worked there until she met and married the love of her life Charles “Chuck” Frazier and moved to Mission Viejo, California. It was here she took a job at Mission Hospital, where she worked and retired after 25 years of service.

Celeste was an amateur artist and crafter. She spent countless hours painting and crafting, filling her home and the homes of her family and many friends with her beautiful creations. She also enjoyed gardening and collecting. One notable collection was of Barbie and Ken dolls, for which she hand crafted clothing to display them in the likes of Marie Antoinette, Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara.

Celeste was absolutely passionate about her work, painting, crafting, collecting, and gardening; however, her greatest passions were her cooking and her family. She was never more complete and filled with love and joy than when cooking for, and surrounded by, her family. Her family is her legacy.

She is survived by her children Julie, John, and Toni, her six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

We will all miss Celeste’s beautiful artistic gifts, spectacular meals, and strong Italian accent; but most of all, we will miss her deep, caring, passionate and personal agape love for each of us.

  3. My sweet Mama Celeste,

You were such a treasure in my life. I had the pleasure of meeting you in 1979 and working with you at Mission Hospital. Then, in 1983, living with you and Chuck. Sitting up in your bed in between the two of you to watch Spanish soap operas and eat ice cream every night. Taking you cherry picking and having cooking wars in your kitchen. (the Italian and the Sicilian). Your articulate seamstress skills were amazing. You refurbished my grandmothers 100 year old lamp shade for my mom and as I have it now, it is a happy daily reminder of you. You always made me feel that I was part of your family. On the eve or your passing, I was blessed to sit by your side and pray with you for God to take you home peacefully… and now, you are re-united with Chuck and our Lord. Good night Mama Celeste, until we meet again.

    Love Melina
