Mikkelsen, Catherine

Our beloved aunt, Catherine ‘Kay’ Mikkelsen, passed away on April 7, 2009. Zizi Kay, as we affectionately called her, was born on December 5, 1919 in Chicago, IL. She married Earl ‘Mike’ Mikkelsen in 1958. Zizi Kay and Uncle Mike shared a happy life in Cicero, IL and Apple Valley, CA until his death in 1993.

Zizi Kay relished being an aunt and a great aunt. She is survived by her nieces Mary Przeklasa Tim, Angela Narel Len, Laura Maurizi Robert, and Lisa Jo Lee. Her nephew, Joseph Maurizi, predeceased her. She is also survived by 12 great-nieces and -nephews: Melissa Przeklasa-Auth Jonathan, Kristen Przeklasa, Kimberly and David Narel, Ashley and Brianna Maurizi, and Lisa Michelle, Christopher, Anthony, Angela, Catherine, and Grace Mary Lee. She was well loved by all, and we will miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30am at the O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, CA and a Mass at 11:00am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Woods, CA. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery and Mausoleum in Lake Forest, CA.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society will be greatly appreciated.
