Catherine Frances Holtz

November 12, 1921 – November 28, 2021

Catherine Frances (Heinz) Holtz passed away peacefully in her home on November 28, 2021, assisted spiritually in her death by grandson, Fr. Daniel Croisette. She was born on November 12, 1921 in Anaheim, California to Joseph and Catherine Heinz.  Catherine was the seventh of fifteen children and had many wonderful memories of growing up on her parent’s orange grove in Anaheim.

She attended St. Boniface Elementary School, St. Anthony High School in Long Beach, and Fullerton Junior College.  After college she worked for Firestone Tire Company in Los Angeles.

Catherine married Andrew L. Holtz of Silverado Canyon on October 18, 1945. After living in Silverado Canyon for two years, Andrew and Catherine moved to Huntington Beach, where they raised eight children on their farm.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew, of 52 years, her parents, Joseph and Catherine, six brothers: Clemens, Joseph, John, Carl, Edward and Ernest, and six sisters: Margaret Karcher, Elvera Holtz, Marie Patin, Cecilia Duckworth, Virginia Jeu Devine and Loretta Haines; daughter, Janet (Joe) Davila and grandson, Tyler Holtz.

She is survived by her brother, Raymond and sister, Lucille Karcher, and her seven children: Stephen (Therese), Joseph (Genevieve), Dennis (Connie), Catherine “Kitt” (Michael) Croisette, Andrew Jr., Brian (Amy) Holtz and Cynthia (Joel) Arredondo; twenty-nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
