Obituary

Carolyn Lee Bishop (Jackson)
September 8, 1934 – January 25, 2025

Carolyn “Carol” Lee Bishop (Jackson) passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, in Grass Valley, California, at the age of 90. She was born on September 8, 1934, in San Francisco California, to Georgianna “Ann” Jackson and Carlisle “Jack” Jackson. Carol grew up in San Francisco, California.

She met the love of her life, Lee Bishop, in 1961 at a dance, and they married in 1962. Together, they built a life in Fremont, purchasing their first home for $16,000. Carol worked various jobs including a position at Pacific Telephone and Telegraph, McCann Erickson in San Francisco, and later at the San Jose Mercury News, where she excelled at selling ad space for ten years.

In 1975, Carol and Lee moved to Mission Viejo, where she continued to be a pillar of strength for her family. After Lee’s passing in 1998, Carol remained in Mission Viejo until 2021, when she sold her home and relocated to Grass Valley.

Carol was known for her charisma, kindness, and generosity. Together she and Lee had a passion for raising, breeding, and training Labrador Retrievers, always surrounded by her beloved dogs, including Charlie Brown, Mac, and two Joes. She also had a nurturing spirit, taking in exchange students who attended the local college and borders, providing them with a welcoming home.

A devoted daughter and sister, Carol graciously took in and cared for her mother and younger brother after her father’s passing, ensuring they were always supported. She loved taking friends and family who visited our to local restaurants. The Rain Forecast Cafe was one of her favorites. No visit to her home was complete without a fresh made breakfast/brunch of french toast with powdered sugar.

Carol is survived by her loving brother, John Jackson; devoted niece, Laurie Gerpheide; nephews, David Jackson (Sandra) and Phil Jackson (May); and several great-nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, and her dear friend and neighbor Derrick Miller.

A private service and interment will be held on March 14, 2025, at El Toro Memorial Park, 25751 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, CA 92630.

Carol will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, unwavering love for her family and friends, and her chocolate ice cream and Pepsi obsession. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and a life well lived.
