Every person we experience, whether briefly or over a lifetime is a gift from God. Though I was merely a blip on the radar of Carolyn Lamb Niblo, I’ll always remember her. Easy to talk with, she made me feel at home.
Once a year during the family birthday celebration for Stella & Colette, we’d take some time on the porch at Lauten North and have fun relaxed conversations. I enjoyed hearing about her migration to California and how the west coast boys loved her southern accent. It’s an often overused adjective, but ‘authentic’ truly describes her.
As she and Denny celebrated 50 years together, I had a chance to sit with her during desert. We had a chuckle over the fact that I’d grabbed the suit pants my very tall sis ‘n law had left. They were right next to mine in the auxiliary closet. It was an object lesson in droopy drawers, and was having trouble keeping them up even with a belt cinched as tight. I felt like one of the seven dwarfs trying not to trip all over myself. Anyway, I was at ease enough to share such a silly thing with her, even at this great occasion. So hoped I’d see her again, but am glad for the memories. I’ll never forget her, she was a blessing and I will truly miss her.
Thank you for sharing the wonderful family photos, Ann and Joe said it best.

9/15 I had to add the following to the end of my bio book:
That was supposed to be the end of my story’but God!
But God had a different plan for “The End.” On the evening of July 7, 2015, my beautiful bride Carolyn, the love of my life, my best friend, my companion, my critic, my supporter, my encourager, my lover for over fifty-one years left us, not for “a better place,” but for “The Best Place.” Her death from cardiac arrest due to a severe sepsis lung infection was both unexpected and sudden. Her passing has left an unfillable hole in my heart. While grief has overwhelmed us all over the past several months, we are consoled knowing she is where we are all looking forward to being for eternity.
One of the music pieces at her beautiful and inspirational Memorial Service was Matt Redman’s Blessed Be Your Name. One of the choruses has these words:
    “You give and take away
    You give and take away
My heart will chose to say, Lord
    Blessed be your name.”
My mortal self anguishes over the “take away” part, but I am so thankful to God for giving me this wonderful woman for over a half century. And I know that’s but an eye’s blink compared to the time we’ll be together in Heaven.
She was an amazingly kind, strong, patient, forgiving, and loving wife. She was a, devoted, caring, and loving Mom and Grammy. She will always be remembered. She will always be missed. She will always be loved.
