Obituary

Carole Ann (Rogers) Lemp passed away on April 19, 2025 in Lake Forest, CA at the age of 83.

Above all else, she cherished being a mother, grandmother, aunt and mother-in-law. Family was always the center of her world.

Carole was born in Toledo, OH and spent a happy childhood with her parents Clifford and Elaine Rogers and older sister Joan (Rogers) Wight.

A proud graduate of Bowling Green University, Carole embarked on a fulfilling career as a first-grade teacher, a profession she truly adored and that came to her naturally.

She married Mike Lemp in 1964. Her first three children (Michelle, Michael and Stephanie) were born in Toledo OH, her fourth (Christopher) after relocating to Wheaton, IL. She moved her family to Connecticut in 1979. In 2002, she and Mike moved to California to enjoy many adventures with their three grandchildren (Connor, Reid and Rachel).

Carole was an avid reader, gardener and a talented artist and crafter. She self published several books. She loved the festiveness of holidays, especially Christmas, and was particularly fond of decorating. She felt deep joy spending time outdoors in the woods and taking walks at the ocean.

In addition to her time teaching, she worked as a florist and bookkeeper, owned a computerized bookkeeping business and a ceramics art studio.

In California, before they retired in 2014, Carole and Mike managed the residential community they lived in. They enjoyed many friendships with neighbors and cherished every moment spent with their grandchildren and their community of friends.

A favorite memory was the “West Trip”, a 10-week family road trip taken when she was 10 years old. It included stops in many national parks, and visits to movie studios in Hollywood, CA. She shared with us that the trip had a lifelong impact and had instilled in her a love of travel, geography, history and nature.

In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her sister, Joan, and her husband of 52 years, Mike Lemp, Jr. She is survived by her children: Michelle Lemp, Michael Lemp III (and his wife Amy), Stephanie (Lemp) Burke (and her husband Rory), and Chris Lemp (and his wife Sarah). Her memory will also be treasured by her three grandchildren, Connor Lemp, Reid Lemp, and Rachel Lemp, as well as her nephews, Roger Wight (and his wife Jane), Chris Wight (and his wife Jill), and her great-niece, Caroline Wight.

A public reception will take place at the Prothero Estates clubhouse 24701 Raymond Way, Lake Forest, CA, 92630. Sunday May 4th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
