CAROL FRANCES MCLAUGHLIN
1947-2009

Carol Frances McLaughin passed away July 12, 2009 at her home in Corona del Mar after a six-year battle with breast cancer surrounded by family, friends and her feline friend Angel who was her constant companion.

Born March 2, 1947 in Philadelphia, Carol was the fourth child of Dr. John and Eleanor McLaughlin. Carol’s family moved to Glendale, California in 1949 where she attended Incarnation School and Church. Carol graduated from Immaculate Heart High School in 1965 and later attended University of California at Riverside. She held a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Duquesne University and taught briefly at Seattle University. She later assisted her father in marketing his medical invention, the Pyxis Med Station, currently used in most hospitals today. Carol eventually pursued her passion to work with non-profit organizations, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and Orange County Cares. In addition to her work Carol had a long association with SIDDHA Yoga.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Dr. John T. McLaughlin and her sister, Honey Jenkins. Carol is survived by her mother, Eleanor McLaughlin; her brothers John Charlotte, Gerry Ann, Peter Heidi and her sister Ann Gore Rufus; numerous nieces and nephews as well as Chie Lee of Beverly Hills and Mun Takeda of Fresno.

Vigil service will be Thursday, July 16, 7:30 pm at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Balboa Island, Newport Beach. Funeral Mass will be July 17, 10:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Angels in Newport Beach, CA followed by interment at Pacific View Memorial Park.
