Obituary

Carol Duane Link Redles
April 20, 1932 March 30, 2013

Carol “Duane” Redles, nee Link, of Lake Forest, CA, formerly of Naples, FL, and Dresher, PA passed away on March 30, 2013 surrounded by her children, Rich, Lynn and David.

“Duane” was born and raised in Beach Haven, New Jersey and was the daughter of Robert and Julia Link. She was the sister of Ralph Link and the late Robert “Wendell” Link. She graduated from Barnegat High School, where she was very active in student government, cheerleading and many clubs. She received an academic scholarship to Temple University graduating with a degree in Medical Technology.

While working a summer job in Beach Haven, she met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Redles, who summered on the Island with his family. She married Dick in Beach Haven in 1952.

Duane worked at the Fort Bliss Army Hospital in El Paso Texas where Dick was stationed, until she gave birth to her first child, Richard Link Redles.

When discharged from the Army, the couple moved to the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they settled and had two more children, Lynn Ann and David Robert. Duane stayed home and raised the three children, while volunteering for booster club activities with Upper Dublin School District and a local church library and nursery.

Duane is survived by brother Ralph Link and sister-in-law Betty Link; son, Richard Link Redles of Clermont, Florida; daughter and son-in-law Lynn Redles Goldberg and Dr. Glenn I. Goldberg of San Juan Capistrano, CA; David Redles of Fairview Park, Ohio; grandchildren Julie C. Goldberg and Jason N. Goldberg; and many nieces and nephews.

Duane will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love for her many friends. Her warm smile and love of laughter and fun will be missed by all. She always called Long Beach Island “home” and brought her children back as often as possible. In Beach Haven there will be a double celebration of life service along with that of her beloved husband Dick who passed away on June 3, 2012.

The ceremony will be at the Kynett Methodist Church, where they were married 61 years ago. It will take place at 1 p.m. on July 3rd, 2013. All friends and relatives are invited to the service.
