Obituary

Yerke, Carol ‘Pepper’

It is with great sadness that the family of Pepper Yerke announces her passing after a long battle of lung cancer, on Friday, February 22, 2008.

Pepper will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 40 years, Tom, her children, Lisa and Michael and her two grandchildren, Jonathan and Braden. Also her sister Teresa and two brothers, Paul and Larry.

Pepper was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was an avid world traveler, her passion was her family, friends, cooking and entertaining those she loved. She was gifted with an unending supply of kindness, grace and a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mom, thank you, thank God for you, the wind beneath our wings.

A memorial service will be held Saturday March 1st at 2pm, Saint George’s Episcopal Church, 23802 Avenida de la Carlota, Laguna Hills, CA. 92653. 949 837-4530.

  1. Pepper, I will forever miss our long distance talks, laughs and cries. You have been such a true friend and gracious in so many ways. Thank you for inviting me into your life and allowing me to meet such a unique and fantastic family. You will be miss by all!

Pepper had such a beautiful spirit. I’ll always remember her warmth and charm, and her dry wit. When Pepper entered a room, everything brightened. She is the most gracious person I’ve had the privilege of knowing, and it’s easy for me to imagine her making the transition from human to angel – she brought such light to us all while she was here.

  3. “Remember when….” Pepper and I shared so many humerous, girly, private times that were hysterical, sentimental, touching and sensitive that shall remain private between the two of us. However, to the rest of you I feel compelled to say “how fortunate you were to have her in your family; a pillar of strength;a polite yet assertive voice of confidence; and if there was a “Miss Fix it” of America…she won the prize.” The only thing she didn’t accomplish was beat this cancer.I’m fortunate to have known her and the rest of you as well. May we all continue to see each other and share. Remember my house is your house the door is open all the time for a get away. I’m sorry I couldn’t be here. Mike you know why….My love to all of you!!

    Most Sincerely,
    Denise

The first time I met Pepper, she was joining us Nonny, Ann Clark, and me to fly up to Cheryl Maloney’s 40th birthday party in Santa Cruz. She was so sweet and funny. We had a blast on the way to the party. Nonny brought “animal noses” to put on. Pepper brought a Polariod camera remember this was a while ago and we put the noses on for different people while in traffic. Pepper took photos. What a hoot of a time we had getting TO the party! I remember after the party, we were all watching TV and then we noticed someone was snoring. Everyone looked awake so we were puzzled. It was then we found out Pepper slept with her eyes open! What a fun time we had with her over that. That was the first time I met Pepper and one of the very best memories I have of “Girls Having Fun”. God bless you Pepper and may His light shine on you the way your smiling face shone on all of us. You will be missed.

  5. We were Mumbles and Babbles, giggles and running around.
One of us would say “do you have that”,
the other would say “no you have it”
    “I don’t have it”
    “I thought you had it”
    Crazy fun.
Pepper taught me, listened to me, and shared with me. I am blessed to have had her in my life.
Thanks to her family for sharing her with us.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
May all the wonderful momories help to ease your grief.
    Diane Ilstrup
