Camilla “Millie” Herrera

September 11, 1953-October 4, 2025

Camilla “Millie” Herrera, age 72 of Colton, California, passed into glory on October 4, 2025. Millie was born in San Bernardino and raised in Colton, California.

Millie was known as a dedicated mother to her two sons Matthew and Andrew Herrera. She was best known for being a giving and charitable person. From a young age, she worked with her mother, Beatrice “Bea” Hernandez, as a community activist. With hard work and dedication, throughout the 1970’s they organized the opening of a community center in her hometown neighborhood of South Colton. With the help of community members they provided social services and healthcare at little to no cost for those in need.

Millie graduated from Colton High School and went to work for the Colton Joint Unified School District, and then the San Hildalgo Institute. She later went on to attend and graduate from UC Riverside, earning her BA in Political Science. Afterwards, she dedicated 31 years of work for State Fund. Where she nurtured her co-workers and created lifelong friendships.

She will be remembered for her dedication to her community, her sharp wit, being an engaging story teller, and as a trusted confidant.

Millie Herrera is survived by her son Andrew Herrera, Brother Mik Arguello, Sister-In-Law Diana Herrera, her cousins: Joe Gonzales, Roberta Villegas, Josie Zavala, Ernest Gonzales, and nieces: Susanne Markel, Rose Herrera, and Lara Deiling.
