February 2, 1989 – September 19, 2026

Beloved husband, father, son and son-in-law, brother and brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many passed suddenly while participating in a 30-mile paddle board fundraiser from Avalon to Newport Beach. Brian was born in Pasadena, attended Loyola High School and then USC where he graduated with a degree in international relations. Following graduation, he moved to Newport Beach where he met his future wife of 10 years, Marika Fedalen.

Brian cherished his relationships with his family and friends, especially his classmates from Loyola and his ΣΛΕ fraternity brothers from USC. An ocean obsessed adventurer, Brian surfed, swam, and most recently joined the paddle board community where he embraced a new passion. For over 15 years Brian drank daily from his mug inscribed, “The Waves Are Calling and I Must Go”.

Brian is survived by his wife Marika, daughter Laine and son Curren, parents Casey and Steve Olson, Chip and Helen Fedalen, sisters Kristin Baber and Brittney Philyaw (Ryan), sisters-in-law Kjerstin Davies (Shaun) and Monika Powell (Chad), 12 nieces and 3 nephews. Brian is predeceased by his nephew, Charlie Davies.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on October 9 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Newport Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charliesguys.org/brianswave.
