Obituary
Beverly Jean Smith, age 70, was called HOME peacefully in her sleep on May 25, 2020. She was born June 19, 1949, in Rochester, New York. She built and nurtured a tight knit family with four devoted children, Lisa Chassie, Richard Sage, John Sage, and Michael Sage, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Her life was a living example of God’s love for his children. Ephesians 4:32 ” “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” That was Beverly.
Beverly loved to love on her family and friends. One of her greatest joys was hosting family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Everyone packed into her condo, sharing wonderful food and friendship. Her hands were rarely still, cooking pasta for the grandkids and playing the slots at Pala Casino. She was many times a lucky winner at slots and her giving heart shared those winnings with her grateful grandkids. They knew she harbored a tender spot for each and every one of them. Her family will forever cherish the giving, caring, loving matriarch she was.
For the past 30 years Beverly worked at RJS Insurance with her sons, Richard and John, as well as her daughter, Lisa. It was her fierce commitment to keeping the family close that kept her going to work every day without fail. She loved sharing her life with them and rarely missed a day of work.
She lived life to the fullest with God and family as her first priority.
Beverly will be interred next to her beloved sister, Diana Lippa. She is survived by her brother-in-law, David Lippa and his wife, Alida; her daughter Lisa Chassie and her husband, Mark; son John Sage and his wife Nancy; son Michael Sage; and son Richard Sage and his wife, Jennifer. The grandchildren: Brandon, Chris, Blake, Jonathan, Victoria, Andrew, Grant, Adam, Bella, and Sofia. Eliana and Luca are her precious great-grandchildren.

I am very fortunate to have known Beverly over the years as my sister Nancy is married to her son John. Beverly was always warm and we talked often when I would visit California regularly to see family. Our talks would often revolve around how to live life to the fullest while following scripture. Beverly stressed living life the way God wanted us to – the way we were created to. She was always warm and treated me like one of her sons. I will always miss her warm smile and kind words.

Dear Mom,
My heart is broken and I miss you beyond belief. I can’t image my life without you. Thank you for loving me and being a wonderful, selfless mother. What an example of love, generosity, and always caring for others you have displayed to your family. We will be grateful to you forever. I will walk every day for the rest of my life thinking of you.
Rest In Peace My Wonderful Mother! Love your daughter Lisa.

Bev, you were a sister-in-law that became a sister. Your kids became my kids.
We all have a hole in our lives, in our hearts, that no one else will ever be able to fill.
And that’s the way it should be. You are that special.
I will miss our many chats but I will continue to call you “up there”. I will honor your memory by continuing, in my own way, to be involved in the lives of all three generations of OUR FAMILY.
Like everyone, family, friends known and unknown, I miss you dearly. You have my eternal love.
Requiem in Pace.
You deserve the peace you earned many times over.
Your brother, Dave “Lucky” Lippa

I have many cherished memories that I will never forget. The world has lost someone so very special. On May 25th, God called one of his special Angels home. Bev was the most kind & caring God fearing woman. I loved seeing her eyes sparkle when she talked about God. Her strong family values were an inspiration to me! Family was the most important to Bev. My deepest sympathy to all of her children, grandchildren and the rest of her family & friends. I am deeply saddened but celebrate as you are with Jesus my friend. I can only image the wind chimes in heaven…
All my love,
Lauri
