Obituary

Betty Jean Merrill of San Juan Capistrano, CA passed away after having health problems with heart disease and kidney disease on June 4th, 2011 9:48pm at Saddleback Hospital. She was born in Yorktown, IN and grew up with her family in Anderson, IN. Betty was one of four children of Harold and Eleanor Simmons. Betty married her beloved husband Dennis A. Merrill on May 21st, 1951 and were able to celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year with family and friends. They both resided in Phoenix, AZ for 44 years before moving to California two years ago.

Betty will always be known for her never ending smile along with everlasting kindness given freely to everyone she ever came in contact with. Betty was a wonderful wife, loving mother and a best friend to all.

Betty passed away comfortably knowing she was going home to the lord. Those that had the privilege of knowing her felt comfortable in her presence without really knowing why. She was a beautiful sunrise or sunset that you are compelled to enjoy. Betty is now waiting for all of us up in heaven and we all will see her beautiful smile again. I know that the tears we shed are only for ourselves.

Betty is survived by her husband Dennis A. Merrill and her son Richard Merrill and wife Carla of Apache Junction, a daughter Barbara McCowan and husband Sam of San Juan Capistrano, CA along with 8 grandchildren Jenny Escamilla, Daphne Grimmitt, Nicholas Merrill, Christopher Merrill, Luke Santangelo, Nathan McCowan, Marissa McCowan and Elle McCowan; and had 5 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at O’Connor Laguna Hills Chapel at 4pm, June 11th, 2011.

All are welcome.
