'Loving mother, wife and grandmother'

Passed away Oct. 24, 2009 at the Park Terrace Assisted Living Facility in Rancho Santa Margarita. Bernice was born in Lincoln, Tennessee on June 2, 1924. During WWII she served as a nurse in Chattanooga where she met and married her beloved husband, Paul, a sergeant of the US Army, 30th Division. After moving to Orange in 1952, she resumed her nursing career at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, and eventually worked as a care-giver, assisting the elderly in Laguna Beach. During her younger years, she was very active in the Holy Family Altar Society, special events and numerous religious activities. The majority of her life was keeping pace with a highly talented, productive husband until his death in 1991.

She was the last living sibling of six wonderful sisters and two caring half-brothers. Bernice is survived by children Nicholas Marcia, Debara Traver; grandchildren, Ryan and Eric Traver, Felicity Sibrel; great-grandchildren Kayla and Kiryn Sibrel.

Graveside services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area #3, at 11:30 a.m., November 2, 2009. In lieu of flowers donations in her honor may be made to the American Heart Association or an Alzheimer's foundation.
