Bernice Lang April 12, 1929 – May 4, 2021

Bernice Lang was born in Boston, Massachusetts and passed away peacefully, after a short illness in Laguna Hills, California.  Bernice was the youngest of Polish immigrants Anthony and Sofie Kalinowski’s five children. She married Kenneth J. Lang in 1952 and moved to the Detroit, Michigan area, settling in Royal Oak where she lived for 42 years.  Bernice and Ken raised three sons, Thomas (1953), Kenneth (1956) and Ronald (1959).  Her husband, Kenneth J., passed away in 1982.

In 1994 Bernice moved to Laguna Woods Village where she lived for 27 years, loving every minute of her retirement living.  An avid knitter, she selflessly dedicated many years making newborn baby blankets and hats which she donated to local hospitals. It is estimated well over 300 babies left the hospital for home wearing one of Bernice’s hats and wrapped in one of her blankets.

She also enjoyed the computer club, socializing and playing bingo at the senior center, casino bus trips and all the clubhouse activities over the years. She stopped driving over 20 years ago and enjoyed meeting all the people during all her trips on the Laguna Woods busses.

Bernice enjoyed traveling, especially to visit her children who were spread out across the country from coast to coast.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Kenneth J. Lang; parents Anthony and Sofie Kalinowski; siblings Lori, Jean, Henry, and Mary (Mania).  She is survived by her sons Tom (Sheila), Ken (Joanne) and Ron; grandchildren Gordon, Henry, Natalie, and Neil; step-grandchildren Amanda, Mike, Megan, Laura; and step-great-grandchildren Caleb, Caden, Evan, Carter, Madisyn, and Maeson.

Bernice lived a long, wonderful life full of joy that she spread to everyone she met.
