Bernard Raymond Swanson of Laguna Woods, California, left us November 5th, 2012 at the age of 94. Born October 10th 1918 in Hanford, California, Bernard graduated from Stanford University in 1940. He worked as a civil engineer for 63 years in the petroleum industry. Following his professional career, he volunteered as a math tutor for 8 years at San Joaquin Elementary School in Laguna Hills, California.

He is survived by the love and joy of his life, his wife of 64 years, Helen; Children Nancy (Michael), Bob (Katy), and Diane (Scott); Grandchildren Kathleen, Joel, Justin, and Chris; Great-grandchildren Luke, Andrew, Connor, Ellie, Carly and Colt. He touched the lives of many people during his lifetime and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held Friday November 16, 11:00am, at Irvine United Congregational Church, 4915 Alton Parkway, Irvine, CA 92604.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Bernard's honor to The Alzheimer's Association or Habitat For Humanity.
