Obituary

Benjamin Hosea Harris, recently of Laguna Woods, passed away May 4, 2014, in San Diego. Born April 4, 1922 in Glendale, California, Ben grew up in Riverside with his siblings Vic, David, and Toni. After graduating from Riverside Polytechnic High School and Riverside Community College, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he proudly served stateside as flight engineer, airplane mechanic, and lifeguard. Following WWII, he graduated from Woodbury College with a degree in International Business. During his entire career Ben worked in aerospace as a planner and manufacturing engineer at Rohr Aircraft, Hughes Helicopter, and Sierracin. While at Hughes, he received his California registration as a professional engineer (PE) in the manufacturing engineering discipline.

Having survived his first two wives, Twana and Viola, in 2001 Ben married his beloved Dolores. While nothing made him happier than to be on the golf course, Ben also enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to Dolores, he is survived by his sister, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Monday, May 19 at 2:15 p.m. When you arrive at Riverside National Cemetery, please meet at staging area 2.
